For the first time in program history, Eastern High School in Voorhees, N.J. is ranked No. 1 in the nation.

The Vikings, 2018 state champions, topped the USA Today/United Soccer Coaches and SIMA Fab 50 polls this week after an 8-0-0 start. They’ll put that record and ranking to the test at home against rivals Shawnee on Thursday.

Eastern is joined in this week’s USA Today/United Soccer Coaches girls poll by Conestoga (No. 9), Cumberland Valley (No. 14) and Pennridge (No. 20).

The boys rankings include Salesianum School at No. 4 and Unionville as a new entry at No. 19 after a 10-0-1 start to the season. Dallastown is among the teams that received votes.
