Combing through Twitter and Facebook, I see how personally people are taking the Carlos Valdes situation.
I get it, Valdes, maybe the best Union player in its short history, doesn't want to play for your favorite team. That really hurts everyone’s ego.
"Good riddance"
"Get rid of that guy"
"How can he not want to play for my beloved Philadelphia Union" you say?
Here's a wake up call. The Union are not a good team. They are a new team with zero history, in a league that's 20 years old, this club really isn't the be all end all. Some players want a bigger stage, some players, like Valdes, want to play for a team that has been around for 106 years like San Lorenzo, or a team like Nacional from Uruguay. In case you haven’t heard of that club, Nacional was founded 116 years ago, and have 44 national championships, 3 Copa Libertadores trophies and 3 Intercontinental cups.
Don't be upset if that's more appealing than your favorite MLS team. I guess 1 playoff appearance in 5 years might be enough for you, but it's not good enough for others.
