According to CBS Philly's Kevin Kinkead, referee Silviu Petrescu will be suspended for one week following a series of missed calls in the Union's home opener against Colorado.
I'm hearing that Silviu Petrescu, the ref from Saturday's Union game, has been suspended one week for missing several calls

Petrescu was criticized following what turned out to be a particularly rough match for failing to call a penalty on two occasions that could have resulted in Union goals. First was a no call on a Dillon Serna handball and the second instance Vincent Nogueira received contact in the box. Handballs can be a tough call and often go either way, but a strong case could be made for Nogeuria getting a penalty call in that situation. Kinkead also mentioned the Michael Harrington tackle on Fernando Aristiguieta as an another call missed by Petrescu.
But wait there's more!
To follow up my earlier tweets, I'm also told Petrescu blew the call involving James Riley's karate kick, should have been sent off

So despite Petrescu's liberal use of the yellow and red card (I'm looking at you Bobby Burling), the powers that be felt quite a few crucial calls were missed. It is a shame that the Union likely missed out on two more points due to the referee, but it is good to know that referees have been and will be held accountable for poor calls.
Your best bet is to look forward to Saturday and see if the Union can steal a win away at Real Salt Lake.
