Game Thread: Philadelphia Union 3 vs FC Cincinnati 0, Final

Union look to get back on track after suffering a loss in their last game

Game Updates:

90+3’ - Final whistle Union win 3-0.

90+2’ - Yellow card to Mbazio and Cincy has a free kick from the top of the box. The shot is wide.

90’ - 3 minutes of stoppage time.

84’ - Union making a double switch here pulling Bedoya and Wagner. With Andrew Wooten and Matt Real replacing them.

80’ - Union free kick from the right side of the box is curled in and Jack Elliott gets a head on it and it goes in! Union up by 3.

74’ - Union Sub in Warren Creavalle for Santos

73’ - GOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!!! Aaronson wins the ball and takes off down the left side and then dribbles to the middle of the field. He then dumps it off for Bedoya who shoots and gets it to the back of the net.

66’ - Stupid foul by McKenzie as he pushes the cincy attacker right in front of the ref, giving them a free kick less than 25 yards out. Wall is setup and of course Medunjanin takes it with his left foot and Andre Blake knew exactly where it was going. Union still up 1-0.

65’ - play is stopped as Wagner gets fouled and is on the ground. Union set for a free kick and it goes out of play.

62’ - Cincy makes a switch here Alvaro Barreal replaces Frankie Amaya.

59’ - Ilsinho with a shot at the top of the box and it deflects off a Cincy defender for a GOAL!

56’ - Aaronson gets a shot off at the top of the box and the Union earn another free kick. This one is swung into the six yard box and is easily handled by the GK.

55’ - Union pushing forward after clearing out the corner. Ilsinho switches play to the left side and hits a running Santos. Who tries to cross the ball into the box and it goes out for a corner.

53’ - Union Sub in Ilsinho for Fontana.

52’ - Corner amounts to nothing.

51’ - Mark McKenzie comes across to help out as the Union were down numbers in their penalty box. The shot deflects off of him and goes for a corner.

50’ - Union pushing forward and in the final third and earn themselves a corner kick. Play is also stopped as he is talking to a few players.

46’ - Second half gets underway at 8:44 PM.

39’ - Mbaizo tries to cross the ball from the right side but it gets deflected and goes out for the corner. That corner is played short and is sent in from the top of the box. Fontana gets a shot off and it hits the post.

38’ - Wagner sends the ball upfield to a running Santos, but FC Cincinnati got on the end of it to stop the play

35’ - Wagner crosses the ball into the center box where an open Aaronson jumps into the air and heads the ball towards the net, but it is wide. Game still leveled at zero.

33’ - Fc Cincinnati’s Haris Medunjanin lines up for a free kick a few yards outside the penaly box and on the right side. He curls it in and its easily taken care of.

29’ - Early sub for FC Cincinnati as Garza gets replaced with Zico Bailey, who is making his MLS debut tonight.

28’ - Greg Garza is down on the pitch and looks like he will be getting replaced.

25’ - Aaronson dribbles around the box and plays it back to Fontana at the top of the box and shoots the ball, however it is saved.

21’ - Union earn yet another corner. This is set on the left side of the net, Monteiro sends it to the back post, it amounts to nothing.

17’ - Mbaizo with a great idea of sending the ball into the center of the box, but it is behind and to the left of Sergio Santos.

14’ - Fontana dribbles into the box and has a few nutmegs and instead of shooting passes it to Brenden Aaronson who mistouches the ball and has it go out for a goal kick.

12’ - Play resumes.

10’ - Miscommunication between Jakob Glesnes and Olivier Mbaizo who both go up in the air and collide. Glesnes catches an elbow in the head from Mbaizo. Play is stopped and Glesnes is going through a concussion protocol on the field.

7’ - Santos comes up the left side of the pitch and dribbles into the penalty area, who is taken down. However no penalty was awarded.

6’ - Anthony Fontana with a great stop at midfield and right after it the Union earn a free kick.

3’ - Kai Wagner driving up the left side of the pitch tries to cross it in but it goes out for a corner. Off the corner kick Jamiro Monteiro heads it over the crossbar.

1’ - Game on. Kickoff happened at 7:38.
