Brenden Aaronson may need some help from a grandparent to explain the Sons of Ben tifo referencing him as the Philadelphia Union’s “Six Million Dollar Man.”
The tifo unveiled before the Union’s game against Toronto FC Saturday night references the reported dollar amount for the recently announced transfer deal that will send Aaronson to Red Bull Salzburg in Austria in January.
The fee is reportedly $6 million with add-ons of up to $3 million and a 10-20% sell-on fee.
The Six Million Dollar Man was an American science fiction and action television series that ran from 1973 to 1978. It was about former astronaut Steve Austin, played by Lee Majors, who was rebuilt with superhuman strength, speed and vision after a NASA test flight accident.
Aaronson turned 20 earlier this week, the same day he was announced as No. 1 in the MLS 22 Under 22 list for this year.
Below are a couple images Sons of Ben tifo artist Ryan Bross sent over and a couple photos of the inspiration.
