Philadelphia Union Academy and YSC Academy grad Nick Pariano had a night to remember in his first home game for the Duke Blue Devils.
The 17-year-old freshman midfielder scored the only goal of the game deep into the second overtime period to lift Duke to a 1-0 win over NC State.
It was the Michigan native’s second collegiate game.
Duke fell 4-2 to Kalil ElMedkhar, a Union Academy grad from Middletown, Del., and the University of Kentucky in their first competitive match of the fall.
In other ACC action Friday night, Union Academy grad Michael Pellegrino scored in a 3-1 loss to Pitt. The Wenonah, N.J. native drilled a shot from just inside the 18 off a clearance of a corner kick from Aiden McFadden (West Chester, Pa.) for his second career goal for the Irish.
