For the third straight time, the Philadelphia Union II have had their game postponed.
U2 was slated to visit Red Bull Arena to play New York Red Bulls II at 5 p.m.
The reason given was “out of abundance of caution.” At least two members of the Union II organization have tested positive for Covid-19 since the USL Championship season restarted.
Red Bull II players and staff “tested negative for Covid-19 during pre-match testing,” according to a news release from the team.
Union II’s games against Hartford Athletic on August 9 and 19 — both scheduled to be played at Subaru Park — were postponed.
Union II players and staff have been kept separate from the first team in training and first team players are not being loaned to play in USL Championship matches as the standard practice has been in the past.
The first team will play their first home game of 2020 — and first since the stadium was renamed Subaru Park — on Tuesday against the New York Red Bulls. The game is closed to the public.
