The Philadelphia Union II season remains on hold after the postponement of their second straight match due to a positive Covid-19 test.
Union II was scheduled to face Hartford Athletic tonight at Subaru Park, but the game has been postponed.
“Proceeding with an abundance of caution, the postponement comes after a covered person in the Philadelphia Union II organization tested positive for COVID-19,” a statement from the organization reads. “The individual has been immediately isolated at home and is in good spirits under the care of team physicians.”
Union II last played against the New York Red Bulls II on August 5 in Chester, picking up their first win in interim head coach Marlon LeBlanc’s first match. The team announced the dismissal of Sven Gartung as head coach earlier that day.
Their match against Hartford Athletic scheduled for August 9 was postponed on August 7 after the team announced a positive COVID-19 test for a “covered” person in the organization, which includes players, technical staff and those in close contact with the players.
UPDATE: The team has clarified that this positive case is a separate case than the one that led to the postponement of the game on August 9.
