Cisse latest Philadelphia Union esports signing

Former SKC gamer officially joins the Union esports roster

Philadelphia Union

A familiar face in the Philadelphia Union esports circuit has officially joined the team’s roster.

Macissé Diop, aka CisséSZN, was announced as the team’s second gamer on their current roster on Friday. He joins former Philadelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi (JayTrain).

“We have followed Cissé’s career since eMLS launched, and we are particularly excited to grow our 2020 esports roster at a time when so many soccer fans are engaging with the sport through the FIFA20 game,” said Philadelphia Union Chief Marketing Officer Doug Vosik in a news release. “This move further shows the Union’s commitment to esports, and we can’t wait to see Cissé in action for our club soon.”

Cisse was the runner-up to Cormac Dooley, aka Doolsta, in the Union’s 2018 esports Open Tournament final. Doolsta went on to win eMLS Cup in 2019 after sweeping the three league series events and signed as Nashville SC’s first gamer. Cisse returned to the Union and won the Union Cup in November 2019 but the team then made waves signing Jay Ajayi to a contract.

He previously signed with Sporting Kansas City as their eMLS rep in 2019.

More recently, Cisse has been carving up his competition in the Union’s FIFAdelphia tournament, where he posted a 36-0-0 record en route to a title.

“I want to thank you all for the continued support you’ve shown me in the past and I hope to make you proud in the future,” Cisse said in an introductory video, noting that he couldn’t refuse the offer “when the Union came calling.”
