Updates

Full Time - There will be no run to a fourth Open Cup final for the Union tonight. Three goals scored in a seven-minute span and the Union fall 2-1 to D.C.

120’ Wayne Rooney buries the penalty to put D.C. United in front in his first Open Cup match.

119’ Penalty called against the Union. Acosta drew the foul in the box.

118’ Chris McCann draws the game level again with a goal off a Wayne Rooney corner.

114’ The Union lead through Fontana, who was played into the box by Monteiro. The homegrown does his best Auston Trusty impersonation to put the Union in front.

110’ Anthony Fontana into the game for Santos. And yes that’s the fourth sub. Open Cup allows a fourth sub in extra time.

First half of extra time ends. Still scoreless.

100’ West Chester, Pa. native Zach Zandi checks in for Fafa Picault to make his first team debut. Ray Gaddis also came in earlier for Mbaizo.

99’ D.C. United with a couple of free kicks from a dangerous spots. Mark McKenzie was whistled for a handball on the first to set up the second. Acosta also with a chance at the far post that misses the mark.

Going to extra time

90’ Matt Real into the game for Fabinho. Curtin still has two subs left.

Scoreless after the first half. Both teams created chances — Ilsinho had a shot from a tight angle go across the face of goal and Fafa made a nice move in the box to create a shot for himself that was deflected wide of the goal — but it was a fairly evenly played first 45 minutes.
