RUMOR: Freddy Adu To Switch To Blackburn Rovers?

Drew Hallowell

Here comes another Freddy Adu transfer rumor, and this one is slightly hard to believe.

Apparently the Blackburn Rovers, who currently play in npower Championship, the English second division, are close to signing the former American international. The hang up on this latest Adu rumor is that the site that produced the information on the possible transfer, The Football Magazine, has quickly become notorious for interesting, but highly questionable transfer stories.

TFM linked Sporting Kansas City striker CJ Sapong to a move to London giants Arsenal earlier this month, sparking plenty of eye rolls and sighs from the general Major League Soccer media and fan populations on social media networks.

The possibility of Adu moving to England isn't that high for a few reasons. The main one being that his chances of winning an appeal for a work permit, and a secondary one in the form of him needing to leave for the Rovers by the end of the work day today in England, if the Union were to ask for a transfer fee as part of the deal.

Adu is on the outs in Philadelphia due to a disagreement over his salary with team management and also his attitude.

Don't expect the transfer to happen, but do wait around for Adu to move on to a less than Premier club. Be on the lookout for a follow up article to come later today from the Brotherly Game on that little tidbit.
