Game Thread: Philadelphia Union 3 vs Orlando City 1, Final

With the CCL now over, the Union now switch focus to league play

Game Updates

90+4’ - Final Whistle and the Union walk off back in a playoff position after dropping 4 spots this week.

90+3’ - Gazdag finds himself open right infront of the net for a tap in, however he is called for offsides.

90+1’ - We will have 4 minutes of stoppage time.

89’ - Przybylko lines up and slams the door shut on Orlando, His PK is sent to the top right of the net.

88’ - Santos running up the right side of the pitch turns to dribble into the middle of the penalty box and goes down. Ref signals for a penalty kick and goes to the back pocket and Antonio-Carlos is show the red. He brought down Santos and made no attempt at the ball.

86’ - Late challenge by Orlando on Monteiro earns the teams 6th yellow card of the afternoon.

79’ - Gallese is shown a yellow card after he comes out and takes the ankles out of Santos. Players are calling for the red for denying a scoring chance. However the YC stands and the Union have a free kick from the right of the box. Gazdag gets the shot on frame and it is cleared.

75’ - Orlando’s Michel gets booked for the easiest definition of a Dive in the penalty area.

74’ - Blake with a beautiful save off a header from Urso.

66’ - Play is stopped as Santos is still down on the field. Training staff is now out on the pitch evaluating Santos.

64’ - Santos is coming in and replaying Bedoya here. Smart move as we need to get the front three in good form as we head to the final third of the season.

61’ - Four minutes later.... Przybylko gets unmarked in the center of the box and converts the shot for a goal.

58’ - Union make a sub here brining Gazdag on for Burke.

57’ - Cross from the left side to the back post where Orlando heads it into the net.

53’ - Union’s Flach enters the book and Orlando has a free kick at the top of the box. Off the restart a player is down inside the box. Replay shows Przybylko’s arm connects with Schlegel’s face. The corner is defended well by the Union.

46’ - Game gets back underway, the U are now defending the river end.

45+2’ - Halftime whistle. Teams head to the locker room at 4:55 PM.

45+1’ - We will have two minutes of stoppage time here.

40’ - The telecast says the goal is confirmed and we have a restart on the field.

37’ - Wagner gets the ball at the top of the box and his shot hits the back of the net and goes in. However, the assistant ref had his flag up for something that happened inside the box on the previous free kick. Ref appears to be talking to VAR. For now, Union up 1-0.

33’ - Orlando’s Schlegel enters the refs book on a Yellow card.

30’ - A cross from the right side of the net from Mbaizo just misses Burke who doesn’t truly commit to the the run. Then from the top of the box the Union get a clear shot but it is wide of the net.

22’ - Union earn a throw in near the corner flag. It is thrown int the box and cleared out.

16’ -Cross...Cross.... Cross that really has been the past few minutes of play.

7’ - Play is stopped as Jansson is down on the field.

5’ - Corey Burke runs behind the defense but is eventually called offside

3’ - First shot from Orlando comes in low to the ground and easily saved by Blake.

1’ - Union wearing the dark blues and are attacking towards the River end.
