This fall will see soccer legend and hometown native Carli Lloyd’s illustrious soccer career come to an end. Lloyd announced at the end of August that she will step away from the sport that she has spent the past 16 years playing. However, before she stops playing, she will play one more time in front of a hometown crowd.
Philadelphia Union announced that Lloyd’s club team the NJ/NY Gotham FC will play one of their home games inside Chester’s Subaru Park. The October 6 game will see Gotham FC host the Washington Spirit. Kickoff for that game will be at 7 p.m.
The two-time World Cup Champion grew up less than 15 miles from Philadelphia, in Delran, N.J. She has also been named the FIFA Player of the Year twice. Lloyd ranks second in international appearances behind Kristine Lilly with 312 and is tied for fifth in international goals with 128.
“I have played many games at Subaru Park with the National Team and to have the opportunity to play in front of my home crowd on the club level will be an amazing memory. Let’s be loud and fill the stadium,” Lloyd said.
Philadelphia Union season ticket holders will have access to an exclusive presale. Single game tickets will go on sale on September 16th. They can be purchased at either gothamfc.com or philadelphiaunion.com.
