Allentown United and Atlantic City FC will begin their NISA Independent Cup campaigns against each other today. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, and will stream live on Eleven Sports.
The two sides are competing in the Mid Atlantic region along with Maryland Bobcats and Steel Pulse FC. The four clubs will play each other in a round robin format over the next three weekends.
Both Allentown and Atlantic City will enter the cup competition on the back of good league form.
Allentown United finished the UPSL season second in the Northeast Conference American Division, posting a 7-1-2 record. The team is stacked offensively, averaging over four goals per game in the league this year.
Meanwhile, Atlantic City also placed second in their league, the NPSL Keystone Conference. “The Aces” had a nearly flawless season, going undefeated with eight wins and two draws. However, West Chester United was just a pinch better, going 9-1 en route to a one point conference championship.
Atlantic City FC are also ranked No. 7 nationally in the NPSL Power Rankings out of 76 total clubs.
Maryland and Steel Pulse will get their campaigns underway today in the morning, before the four sides look ahead toward the second match. Allentown United will play the Bobcats on July 17, while Atlantic City will head to Columbia, Maryland to face Steel Pulse FC the following day.
