The East dominated the West in the annual High School All-American girls match, and that was thanks to a few local players.
Rutgers-bound New Jersey native Riley Tiernan scored twice, earning the Most Valuable Player award for the East.
Meanwhile, Kylie Daigle added a goal and two assists en route to a 4-1 win. Each of the four goals involved someone from New Jersey, as Daigle hails from the Pennington School and plans on attending Rutgers as well.
Both Tiernan and Daigle ended up on TopDrawerSoccer’s Best XI for their performances. Faith Slimmer, who is from Millville, New Jersey, also made the list of other standouts for her role as an attacker in the match.
On the boys’ side, a more defensive affair led to a 1-1 draw. This allowed for North Penn defender Josh Jones to be named East Most Valuable Player, an award usually reserved for a more attacking player. Jones will head to Louisville to play collegiately.
Two other locals stood out in the match. Future High Point goalkeeper Luke Snyder made two key saves and was named in the Best XI alongside Jones. Lewisburg midfielder Ben Liscum, who will head to Penn State, also performed well in the match.
Congratulations to our own Josh Jones, Captain of our 02 Black team and future Louisville Cardinal, on being named Team East Most Valuable Player of the High School All American Game! Representing #UkieNation on the national stage! pic.twitter.com/lp0WAfyIN9
