Jamaican international defender Alvas Powell is training with the Philadelphia Union ahead of a possible move.

The 26-year-old with 49 international caps was training with the first team on Wednesday morning at Power Training Complex as a report from Kristian Dyer was emerging of the Union targeting the former Inter Miami, FC Cincinnati and Portland Timbers right back.

He also played in the second half as an unnamed trialist in a friendly last week with Philadelphia Union 2 against USL League Two club Real Central New Jersey.

Powell joined Sudanese club Al-Hilal Club in January after making just four appearances in Miami’s inaugural season in MLS.

Olivier Mbaizo has started all 11 matches in all competitions for the Philadelphia Union in 2021. The other right back on the roster is 20-year-old U.S. youth international Nathan Harriel, who is still waiting to make his first team debut after being added to the roster as a homegrown player in January.

Veteran Ray Gaddis retired prior to the start of the season.

Powell is no stranger to the Union team with goalkeeper Andre Blake and forward Cory Burke both members of the Reggae Boyz.
