The Union host Inter Miami tonight for their first home game of the MLS season

90’ +5 John McCarthy goes up to catch a ball and goes down hard but the whistle blows for full time. The Union lose a regular season game at home for the first time since a 2-1 loss to NYCFC on Decision Day in October 2019.

90’ +1 McGlynn in for Ilsinho who injured himself. MLS debut for McGlynn.

90’ Four minutes of stoppage time. Jack McGlynn getting ready to come on.

86’ Gonzalo with another chance but Blake with a diving stop to keep it 2-1.

83’ Federico Higuain adds a goal to put the visitors in front.

79’ Ilsinho in for Kacper, Fontana in for Flach.

77’ Flach with a chance to redeem himself for that foul, gets on the end of a cross from Miro to the far post but his shot misses the target.

73’ Gonzalo Higuain levels the score heading home a free kick from his brother Federico after a Flach foul set up a set piece from a dangerous spot.

67’ Flach gotten taking out on a bad challenge (referee played advantage) and now Jose Martinez and Higuain are picking up where they left off the last time Miami was here.

46’ Second half underway. One change for Miami: Jay Chapman in for Robbie Robinson.

45’+3 Halftime whistle blows. Miami had the best chance of the half off a bad giveaway from Glesnes and the Union isn’t able to do much with five corner kicks, recording just one shot on goal with a slight edge in possession.

44’ Fifth corner of the night for the Union earned by a strong open field run from Santos but Kacper’s header from distance is no trouble for McCarthy.

40’ Leon Flach with a cross to the far post that finds Bedoya but he’s unable to redirect the header on target.

37’ Nice little combination play there but McCarthy is able to cut down the final ball in the box.

29’ Santos goes down in the box and the fans want a penalty but the referee wants no part of it. On the counter, Matuidi goes into the book for a bad foul on Kacper.

27’ Leon Flach serves a good cross in from the left, Bedoya goes high to win the header and it falls to Santos but it shot ricochets off a Miami defender right at McCarthy.

19’ Bad giveaway in the back from Glesnes right to Robbie Robinson but his shot hits woodwork and the Union dodge one.

16’ Another corner for the Union but nothing comes of it.

13’ A couple corners for the Union, the second almost sprung a counter for Miami but Leon Flach showing his pace on the recovery run to close down the danger.

8’ A set piece for each team early, but no clear chances yet. Bedoya with a good clearance to cut down a possible would-be chance for Miami.

The Union will be wearing their new secondary jerseys tonight with a twist: yellow shorts. They’ve worn them with white shorts in preseason and in their first two road games in Concacaf Champions League and at Columbus Crew last week.

Starting Lineup

One change in the Union Starting XI with Sergio Santos replacing Anthony Fontana at striker.

The most notable name in the Inter Miami starting XI is former Union and La Salle keeper John McCarthy, a Philadelphia native, starting the game.

Injuries/Absences

Jack de Vries is out still with a concussion, but Cory Burke and Ilsinho are both available for selection. Inter Miami doesn’t have any players listed on the league’s player availability report.
