Subaru Park will host its first ever Concacaf Champions League match tonight when the Philadelphia Union take on Saprissa. The U come into the match up a goal thanks to Kacper Pryzybylko’s goal in the 34th minute.
Since last week the news has not been positive for Saprissa. Over the weekend the club continued its current losing streak, and set a new record of most consecutive losses in franchise history. If that wasn’t enough, the club announced that two players and a member of the technical staff tested positive for Covid-19. Per state and Concacaf guidelines, those individuals are in quarantine and did not travel with the team. Saprissa will also be missing a couple players to injury and another because of travel restrictions.
While it was an historic night for the club because they won their first Concacaf Champions League game, it was equally historic for the man steering the team Jim Curtin. The boys in blue bagged Curtin’s 100th win as the head coach of the Union. He comes into leg two with a record of 100 wins 54 draws and 87 losses.
