Coatesville native Baba Kallie made quite the impression in his first Patriot League match for Naval Academy over the weekend, scoring a first half equalizer and setting up the game-winning goal in their spring opener.
Kallie’s standout performance earned him United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week honors in addition to Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of Week.
Kallie, who spent time in the Philadelphia Union Academy and played for FC Delco and Penn Fusion Academy prior to college, scored his first collegiate goal in the 44th minute to level the score against Colgate. With the score still tied late in the second half, Kallie had another run lead to a goal when his effort led to an own goal that held up as the game-winner.
The player of the week honor was the second straight for a player with local ties. Rutgers star Amirah Ali was named the women’s D1 player of the week by United Soccer Coaches last week.
