CHESTER, Pa. — Philadelphia Union II continued their unbeaten start to 2021 with another victory over local club Vereinigung Erzgebirge in a friendly on Sunday afternoon at the Power Training Complex.

Bajung Darboe, Marcello Mazzola and Caden Stafford scored goals from the run of play and Sean Bettenhausen, and Jack Jasinski converted penalty kicks.

After an early goal from Darboe off a long ball from Anthony Ramirez (see video embedded below), Max Kroschwitz equalized for VE in the first of three 30-minute periods but the hosts took a 3-1 lead into the third period with a pair of penalty kicks.

Mazzola stretched the lead to 4-1 with a goal in his Union II debut off another assist from Ramirez and Stafford capped off the scoring 15 minutes later. Logan Oliver also made his Union II debut in the match on the back line.

While Union II was especially young without any field players on the day who have graduated high school, VE also featured a 16-year-old and two 20-year-olds on the day.

Union II returns to the field on Saturday to host USL League One side Richmond Kickers in another closed door friendly.
