Community Corner: First day of training camp open thread

What’s on your mind?

Philadelphia Union

The Philadelphia Union officially opened training camp today and then finally released their preseason schedule a few hours later.

Based on the photos sent out to media, there were a number of players back training at the 76ers Fieldhouse in Wilmington, Del.

As has been the case since the pandemic shut down the MLS season last March, today’s training was not open to media. So there’s no “sexy season” moments like last year when Matej Oravec had his first interview with reporters in Wilmington or photographs that weren’t selectively edited by the team.

Andre Blake, Jamiro Monteiro, Jack de Vries, Nathan Harriel, Kacper Przybylko, Jack Elliott, Paxten Aaronson, Quinn Sullivan, Cole Turner, Anthony Fontana, Olivier Mbaizo, Jose Martinez, Kai Wagner and Matej Oravec could all be spotted in the photos sent to media.

Alejandro Bedoya, Jakob Glesnes, Ilsinho, Matthew Real, Sergio Santos, Brandan Craig and Jack McGlynn could be seen in video that was shared.

Matt Freese is away at a U.S. U23 camp, Stuart Findlay hasn’t arrived yet from Scotland. That leaves Ray Gaddis and Cory Burke as players who weren’t in either the photos or videos. The team has not announced whether veterans Joe Bendik and Aurelien Collin, who are both out of contract, will be back.
