10 players who need a much improved 2021
As is the case with every new season, there will be plenty of teams around Major League Soccer counting on improved performances from certain key cogs in 2021.

LA Galaxy sign veteran defender Oniel Fisher
The 29-year-old has played his entire professional career to date in MLS. Drafted out of the University of New Mexico in 2015 by the Seattle Sounders, he spent three seasons there before being traded to D.C. ahead of the 2018 season. A knee injury kept him out the entire 2019 campaign, but the fullback was a depth option in 2020 for United, making 15 appearances (six starts) in league play.

Multiple MLS teams lining up bids for Kemar Lawrence
At least two teams, one Western Conference and one Eastern Conference team, have emerged as contenders for Lawrence’s services, and sources tell SBI that FC Cincinnati was an early contender to acquire Lawrence, but eventually switched gears and instead traded for Ronald Matarrita from New York City FC.

Red Bulls make unsuccessful bid for Swedish left back Eric Kahl
The reported $600,000 bid was described as “shameful,” with the Swedish club valuing the player at $2,400,000. His contract runs through December of 2022, and he will only leave for a team “that is really a right step in his development.”
