The Philadelphia Union will face two opponents for the first time and a third opponent they’ve beaten 3 out of 11 tries in the group stage of the MLS is Back Tournament kicking off on July 8 in Orlando.
The Union were drawn into the six-team Group A in a live draw conducted by former Union forward Charlie Davies. They will play three of the six teams: NYCFC, Nashville SC and Inter Miami.
The Union has an all-time record of 3-7-1 against NYC, posting an 0-4-1 mark playing on the tight field dimensions at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
The schedule has not been released but Orlando City SC will be playing Inter Miami in the first game on July 8.
The top two teams in the group and the top four third place finishers in the six groups will advance to the 16-team knockout round.
Matches will be played almost daily at 9 a.m., 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. eastern time in the World Cup-style competition. Games will be broadcast live from ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Fox Sports, ESPN and Univision.
The league plans to resume the regular season with a modified schedule in home markets after the completion of the tournament.
