An orange sun logo for a local 55,000-member credit union will emblazon the Philadelphia Union II jerseys beginning this season.
Sun East Federal Credit Union was announced on Thursday as the official jersey sponsor for the USL Championship team formerly known as the Bethlehem Steel. The Aston, Pa.-based credit union signed a multi-year partnership with the club. Details of the length of the deal and the value were not disclosed.
“We are excited to bring Sun East Federal Credit Union into the Philadelphia Union family,” Tim McDermott, Philadelphia Union President, said in a news release. “Much like the Union II, Sun East has strong local roots and an unwavering commitment to improving our community.”
Sun East is the second jersey sponsor for the Union’s USL affiliate. Lehigh Valley Health Network sponsored the Steel FC jerseys the first three seasons of the club from 2016-2018 but withdrew their support when the team relocated all but a handful of its games to Chester last season.
In addition to the jersey sponsorship, Sun East will host Autograph Alley, a concourse activation at home matches and sponsored giveaways. Union II social media will feature the Starting Xl, Save of the Match and Save of the Month posts all sponsored by Sun East.
“Just as Philadelphia Union II champions the dreams of young soccer players to help prepare, educate, and further their sports and career aspirations; Sun East champions the financial dreams of the families who live and work in our local communities,” Sun East President and CEO Michael Kaczenski said in a news release.
