Cordeiro’s resignation comes on the heels of widespread protest at the legal tactics used on USSF’s behalf in their equal pay dispute with the women’s national team, including former WNT player and current Athlete Council member Heather O’Reilly stating publicly that she regrets voting for Cordeiro.
USSF cancels March and April women’s and men’s friendlies
The senior men’s team was scheduled to play the Netherlands away on March 26 and Wales away on March 30, while the senior women’s team had two home friendlies scheduled, one against Australia on April 10 and against Brazil on April 14. USSF said in their official statement they will attempt to reschedule the WNT’s friendlies at a later date.
USL Championship suspends season for 30 days
The Union II have three games during the 30-day window, including one at home against Atlanta United 2 on April 3. Their road games against North Carolina FC Saturday and Charleston Battery on March 28 are both postponed.
