West Chester native Aiden McFadden delivered a low lining free kick that somehow found its way through traffic and into the back of the net to win the game for Notre Dame on Sunday and send the Irish into the ACC semifinal.

The goal was the first this season in 8 games for the senior, who has four assists. It was his sixth career goal for the Irish. McFadden starred at Henderson High School and for Penn Fusion Academy prior to college and has also played in the NPSL for West Chester United.

McFadden one of three players on the Irish with local ties, which includes South Jersey native and Philadelphia Union Academy/YSC Academy grad Michael Pellegrino and former FC Delco defender and Haverford School grad Senan Farrelly, who has also been a teammate of McFadden’s on West Chester United.

The Irish will play top-ranked Pitt on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Raleigh, N.C. with a shot at the final on the line. Virginia and Clemson play in Chapel Hill, N.C. in the other semifinal at 6 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast live on the ACC Network.
