The Montreal Impact’s offensive players ripped the Union’s defensive back line apart last Saturday night as they were able to find holes throughout the night and keeping the defensive line spread out and out of position.
Rightfully so the defensive players for the Philadelphia Union are on the bottom of this week’s Rate the U poll alongside of Jim Curtin, who didn’t appear to prepare the team to play in Montreal Saturday night. The Philadelphia Union have had back to back road defeats where they have lost by identical 4-0 score lines.
Ray Gaddis is at the bottom of the poll with an average rating of 1.38. The Impact was gunning after his flank for most of the evening and it appears that there needs to be a decision made at the right back position for Philly.
By the end of the evening, Jim pushed his players up after the team went down 2 to nothing, leaving his defensive core even more open. It was understandable though since Curtin had to find something to get his players back into the match. The rest of the bottom of the poll we will find Jim Curtin with a rating of 1.83, Austin Trusty 2.05 and Andre Blake 2.09.
At the top of the poll we find Ilsinho with yet another player of the week nod from voters. Ilsinho was subbed into the match to play for 41 minutes but it was enough to receive an average rating of 2.83 out of 5.
The attacking players for the Union didn’t end up doing much throughout the match but they remained on the top of the Rate the U poll and it appears that the fans put most of the blame on the defensive core of the Philadelphia Union and Jim Curtin.
Philadelphia will play D.C. United tonight at 7:30 p.m. in a game that could result in either the Union taking the first place position back from Atlanta United or losing even second place to D.C. United.
