Rate The U: Jack Elliott impresses

Jack Elliot is the best rated player for the third time this year based on our Rate The U community poll.

MLS: Houston Dynamo at Philadelphia Union Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Jack Elliot has proved himself yet again this year. Elliot, a 23-year-old center back born in London, England, wasn’t expected to start at the beginning of the 2019 season, but with some good fortune and bad luck for young Mark McKenzie, Jack was given the opportunity to start for the Philadelphia Union.

Taking full advantage of the opportunity Jack has been catching more of the fans eyes during his match, most recently during the game last weekend when the Union faced Houston Dynamo.

The game against the Dynamo was not as crisp of a game that we have become used to seeing of the Union based on the past few weeks. Even though Philadelphia was able to score first they still let Houston stay around in the game for too long and it was costly as Houston would score before the first half was over.

Thanks to Jack though, the Union were able to score the go ahead goal late into the second half of the game. Jack Elliot was able to finish off an opportunity in the 78th minute when a cross from Jamiro Monteiro would bounce around in front of net and Jack was able to hunt the ball down and finish it off to put The Philadelphia Union ahead. Jack would receive an average rating of 4.45 out of 5 this week from the Rate The U Poll.

At the bottom of the poll this week we will find Andrew Wooten with an average rating of 3.08 out of 5, along with Ray Gaddis, who received an average rating of 3.24 out of 5. Wooten has not been at the bottom of the ratings for long and I believe that he will bounce back, but he needs to show more control with the ball and be stronger in front of net.

The Philadelphia Union will face off against the Chicago Fire tonight starting at 8 pm. Check out the Brotherly Game after the match for the next opportunity to Rate The U.
