The Philadelphia Union played Orlando City FC twice this week, winning the match on Wednesday in Orlando and tying the game in Chester Sunday evening.
Both teams have been playing with tired legs, both have played four games in 15 days. Because of this we saw a somewhat different line up than we typically see. Aurelien Collin filled in for Auston Trusty and paired with Jack Elliot in the center of the back line. Collin showed pretty good skill and plays more of a pressing center back. With a good first half, Collins fatigue started to show in the second, was often knocked down and ran out of gas.
This is the first time the fans have seen Andre Blake for a while after he has been serving for the Jamaican National Team during their time at the Gold Cup. Matt Freese has been covering for Blake in the mean time with some impressive performances over the past few weeks including the game in Orlando on Wednesday.
We also got more of a look at Marco Fabian today, as he scored the first goal of the match in the 4th minute of the game. Marco scored a header off of a serve from Fafa Picault, a play that Bedoya and Marco were practicing at training camp on Friday. Marco recorded 67 minutes during the game and started to show some tired legs at the end of his shift.
The Union ended up going down a goal in the 81st minute and had to find some way to get a point from the game Sunday evening. With some impressive quick passing by substitutes Matt Real and Anthony Fontana, the homegrown players were able to find Kacper Pryzbylko in the 18-yard box and allow him to score the tying goal in the 89th minute.
With a lot to digest on player performances, how do you feel the players and Jim Curtin performed this week? Rate below and don't forget to check back later this week for the results.
