With the first week back to live action after the Gold Cup break, the Union started with two games away from home against the New England Revolution which they were able to tie 1-1, and then Philly traveled to New York to play NYFC to lose 4-2.
This was a week in which the team needed to shake off some rust and get back to action. One thing was clear in that first week is that Fafa Picault is starting to get on a hot streak. With Fafa having an impressive performance in the first game of the week as a sub, he was able to show Jim Curtin that he deserved the starting position the following Saturday against New York City FC.
Fafa received the highest rating for both polls over the week, receiving a 4.19 average rating out of 5 for the New England game and a 3.9 for the New York City FC game. Let’s hope Fafa will be able to keep the intensity up with a new striker in Andrew Wooten around the corner. The contest for starting strikers is about to get even more intense.
At the bottom of the Community Rating Forms we see a couple of notable players that need to start performing better in Sergio Santos and Marco Fabian. Being the two bigger signings that Ernst Tanner made in the beginning of the season, Philly was expecting more out of these two. With the contest for starting striker continuing, Santos needs to make his mark on the games when given the opportunity to start.
With Jamiro Monteiro out with an ankle injury, this could be the time for Marco Fabian to show that he is able to stay available be ready for game day.
Thank you for making your voice heard in the Community rating poll. The next poll will be released following the Orlando game Saturday night.
