The Philadelphia Union got back to work last week after having the chance to enjoy a couple of weeks off for the Gold Cup. The Union have started the second half of their season a little flat footed and were only able to salvage 1 point out of a possible 6 toward the MLS Playoff Race.
The first game was last Wednesday night against New England Revolution in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Playing down by a goal since the 31st minute, The Union were able to win possession and tie the game in the 84th minute when Kacper Pryzbylko was able to finish a crossed ball that took a deflection after speedy Fafa Picault sent a ball a crossed the 6 yard box.
The Union then traveled to the Yankee Stadium to play NYFC. This was a frustrating game as Philadelphia came out strong with a great goal by Fafa Picault after receiving a beautiful lofted pass from Jamiro Monteiro. The Union were able to go up 2-1 by the end of the first half and all that this was in the bag.
The Union ended up loosing Saturday night when New York were awarded 2 questionable penalty kicks at the spot against the rookie Matt Freese. Shifting momentum of the game The Union were caught on their heels.
