MLS had a light schedule this week, which meant that the Philadelphia Union’s matchup with New York Red Bulls was the only MLS match to kick off at 7:30pm on Saturday night. That gave plenty of active players a chance to tune in during the match and catch Ilsinho’s remarkable second half performance.
Players who had formerly suited up alongside him in Philadelphia were quick to chime in about how spectacular it is to watch the Brazilian on the ball. Derrick Jones, Ilsinho’s teammate from 2016 until last month, was the first to remark on the midfielder’s play.
Bruh Ilsinho is just a different class

He was only his teammate for a little more than one season, but David Accam didn’t miss an opportunity to speak up when he added a comment of his own to Jones’s tweet.
He is always on a different level

CJ Sapong, another three-year teammate of Ilsinho, added a similar sentiment.
Always has been. Always will be. https://t.co/UIZQKCLXXL

And it was later the next morning that Roland Alberg, Ilsinho’s teammate in 2016 and 2017, also voiced his admiration for his former teammate’s performance.
Morning all, just saw some highlights of the game @PhilaUnion Ilsinho Ilsinho Ilsinho too good #doop

He may have only spent the 2016 season on the same team as Ilsinho, but that didn’t stop Michael Lahoud, currently with San Antonio FC, from expressing his admiration.
Build this man a statue already https://t.co/0HTftFud7N

It certainly looks like no matter where a player ends up after they leave Philly, they never forget their time spent playing alongside a skill-master like Ilsinho.
