Injury Report: Philadelphia Union vs Seattle Sounders

A quick look at who’s in and who’s out for the showdown with Seattle

Both teams come into Saturday’s big matchup with some key player injuries. Here’s the rundown.

Philadelphia Union

Andre Blake
Blake has been back to training and the team’s stated goal was for him to be healthy from his groin injury in time for this key matchup with Seattle. He is no longer listed on MLS’ website’s injury report, so I’d expect to see him in the 18 against Seattle. There’s a chance he starts, but since Carlos Miguel Coronel has done an excellent job filling in I wouldn’t be shocked if the team opted to play it conservatively keeping Blake was on the bench for one more week.

Marco Fabián
Marco seems to have suffered a setback with his ankle and is listed as questionable for Saturday’s game. He didn’t respond well to a training drill this past week and he’s still not at 100%. It’s possible we don’t see him at all Saturday, with Ilsinho set to play a bigger role if that’s the case. With Marco possibly set to miss a few games this summer (as he was called into Mexico’s preliminary Gold Cup squad) the Union have yet so see him feature consistently. He is one of the big question marks going forward in terms of integrating his skillset into a team that’s already performing at a high level when he has been absent.

Warren Creavalle
Creavalle picked up a hamstring strain Wednesday in practice and is questionable for Saturday’s game. Since Jones is now gone for Nashville, the Union do not have another true defensive midfielder to bring off the bench to close out a game is he isn’t able to go.

Matt Freese
Matt continues to recover from his oblique tear and will be out another week or two.

Matt Real and Mark McKenzie
Matt Real and Mark McKenzie are away with the United States U20 team for the upcoming U20 World Cup in Poland.

Seattle

Jordan Morris
The U.S. international striker suffered a hamstring strain in their midweek matchup against Orlando and he did not make the trip to Philly.

Gustav Svensson and Victor Rodriguez
Both of the midfielders are out for today’s game with hamstring strains

Chad Marshall
One of the best defenders in league history has missed the last two games for Seattle and is listed as questionable for today’s game with right knee swelling.
