During the preseason this year, many expected Mark McKenzie to start at the center back position next to Auston Trusty. But a preseason injury and other setbacks have given Jack Elliott the opportunity to win the starting position.
He’s had it pretty much on lockdown since the start of the season. This has shown in our weekly community player rating polls. The poll from the Montreal Impact win was the first that he finished with the highest vote tally, but but he is the second highest rated player overall for the entire season so far, with an average rating of 3.94.
With Auston Trusty out from a red card suspension, Elliott paired up with veteran Aurelien Collin making his Union debut on Saturday and the duo led a back line that kept a clean sheet.
A few other notes to take a look at with this poll, is that the voters in the community poll are continuing to be impressed from Jamiro Monteiro. Currently he is the only player that is above Jack Elliott on the overall chart, with an average rating of 3.98. Granted it is a small sample size so far, but let’s hope Monteiro will keep up the intensity and the positive performances on the field. Also Alejandro Bedoya and Jim Curtin continue to stay in the top five of the fan ratings.
