Updates

That’s it. The Union suffer their third loss of the season and see their three-game win streak and four-game unbeaten streak snapped. It’s also the first time they’ve lost with Brenden Aaronson in the starting lineup. They get Montreal Impact at home for an afternoon match next Saturday.

90’+2 Not much of a fight left here from the 10-men Union.

78’ McKenzie replaces Aaronson to make his 2019 debut. He’ll likely be playing next week with Trusty now facing the red card suspension.

76’ Trusty gets shown a second yellow. There goes his streak of not missing a single minute dating back to the start of the last season.

69’ Ilsinho in for Ray Gaddis. Does this mean Bedoya is the right back again?

69’ Bedoya with another chance on some good combination play from Monteiro and Fafa but his shot goes wide.

61’ An hour into the game and the Union are still down 2-0 but playing much better than they did in the first half. Where have we seen this before? Oh yeah, last week when they came back down a goal to win 2-1.

54’ Bedoya with two cracks at goal, the first doesn’t quite make it to the goal and the second hits woodwork. Union finally on the front foot.

52’ First corner of the night for the Union.

47’ Trusty joins Wagner in the referees book after taking out Lleget near the sideline.

46’ Second half underway and the Union with a chance right away that leads to nothing.

45’+7 After seven minutes of stoppage time, the teams head to the locker room. The Union need to regroup and find a goal early in the second half to try to get back into this one.

43’ Haris with a great driving ball to find Bedoya at the far post, but Fafa is unable to get a touch on his first time cross.

40’ Picault rips a shot from distance but it’s right at the keeper, who isn’t troubled.

37’ Aaronson tackled from behind by dos Santos just outside the D and it’s not even called a foul.

36’ The penalty stands and it’s 2-0 Galaxy on Zlatan’s first-half brace.

34’ Play is being reviewed. Didn’t look like much.

32’ Penalty called after Zlatan goes down in the box challenging Trusty and Wagner to get to a cross.

27’ Zlatan goes high to win a header and puts the Galaxy up 1-0. Jørgen Skjelvik with a perfectly placed cross from the left flank.

23’ Fabian back on the pitch but he’s going to be replaced by Fafa Picault.

22’ Antuna with a shot outside the 18 but Blake makes the routine save.

18’ Fabian down getting treatment. He’s back on his feet favoring his left ankle. Union will play with 10 men as he gets work done on the sideline.

17’ Union doing a lot of defending right now, but no clear chances for the Galaxy. Fabian with a speculative effort on goal on the most recent counter attack that doesn’t trouble Bingham in the least.

11’ Aaronson gets the ball in a good spot from Monteiro and takes a quick shot but it goes way off the mark.

10’ Elliott does well on a break for the Galaxy to position himself and not allow Zlatan to get to the ball served in his direction

6’ Galaxy with the bulk of the possession so far.

2’ Early corner for the Galaxy after Monteiro was taken off the ball by two players on the other end of the field. Lively crowd in Carson tonight.

1’ Game is underway.

Starting Lineups

The answer to the question of Monteiro or Aaronson ended up being both as head coach Jim Curtin moves Marco Fabian up top with Cory Burke and slots Brenden Aaronson in at the 10 and Jamiro Monteiro in the left side of the diamond for his first start for the boys in blue.

Fafa Picault and David Accam both go to the bench but the back six is unchanged.
