The Philadelphia Union won’t get a chance to play the defending MLS Cup champions in the regular season but they do have a visit to last year’s Supporters’ Shield winners early on their schedule and six other games that will be broadcast on national television.

The Seattle Sounders, Houston Dynamo and Minnesota United are the three Western Conference teams the Union won’t face during the regular season in the schedule format new for 2020. The boys in blue will visit Los Angeles on March 8 after opening the season in Frisco, Texas on February 29 and then head to Portland to face the Timbers on March 28 in their two biggest road trips of the season.

While they open the season with two straight road games, they’ll close the campaign at home on back-to-back Sundays against the New York Red Bulls on September 27 and the Chicago Fire on October 4. Prior to their closing homestand, the Union will hit the road for six out of eight games with three straight road games against in that stretch against conference rivals NYCFC, Toronto FC and DC United.

They’ll host three games at Talen Energy Stadium in eight days with Montreal Impact on April 11 at 1 p.m., LA Galaxy midweek on Wednesday and NYCFC on Sunday at 4 p.m.

The Galaxy game is the lone Wednesday home game on the schedule. The Union will visit Nashville SC for the first time on a Wednesday in May (May 13) and Soldier Field in Chicago on July 8, four days after spending Indendence Day in Canada playing the Montreal Impact.
