Major League Soccer awards expansion team to Charlotte
Charlotte has been awarded an MLS expansion team, the league’s 30th, and the club is set to begin play in 2021 out of Bank of America Stadium in downtown Charlotte. The expansion bid was led by billionaire David Tepper, owner of the Carolina Panthers.

The league announced its 30th team on Tuesday as several other markets will now face the reality that they have missed out on a spot.

NYCFC announces four games at Citi Field
Still lacking a permanent home stadium, the Citi Field Series moves what would be four midweek games at Yankee Stadium to weekend games at Citi Field. The weekends in question are during long home stands for the New York Yankees and long road trips for the Mets.

Revolution sign Seth Sinovic
Sinovic, 32, was drafted by the Revs in 2010 and made 20 appearances (18 starts) during his rookie year for a total of 1,580 minutes. He was waived on Mar. 31, 2011, ultimately signing with Sporting KC in May 2011.

Atlanta United announces multi-year extension with Brooks Lennon through 2023
His base salary for 2019 was $230,004, with his guaranteed compensation at just over $242,000. Terms of the contract extension haven’t been released, but the fact that it’s through 2023 means that the club is looking at him as more than a bench piece and feels that he could be a substantial part of the club moving forward.

FC Cincinnati adds Swedish center back Tom Petterson
The 29-year-old was previously the captain for Swedish club Ostersunds FK and joins the club on a free transfer at the end of his expiring deal.
