Three players with local ties invited to MLS College Showcase in North Carolina

Three players with ties to the area are on the list of 40 players who received invites to the MLS College Showcase event in Cary, North Carolina this weekend.

Temple goalkeeper and Reading United alum Simon Lefebvre, Reading United alum Aaron Molloy and former Philadelphia Union Academy midfielder Jack Skahan are on the list of invitees to the scouting event for top college pro prospects.

All three players have exhausted their collegiate availability — Molloy with Penn State and Skahan at North Carolina — but several invitees are underclassmen. The eligible player listed for the 2020 MLS SuperDraft will be announced at a later date.

Homegrown eligible players are not participating in the event. Skahan, a Memphis, Tennessee native, spent one season playing for the Union Academy, but returned home to Tennessee for his senior year of high school.

The Union have the No. 21 pick in the first round of the draft and also have the 73rd, 99th and 101st picks. The Union didn’t select any players in the 2019 draft after sending FC Cincinnati their picks in a trade.
