A year after coming up one win shy of capturing national championships in both men’s and women’s soccer, Penn State Brandywine’s teams are returning to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships in Virginia Beach this weekend.
The men’s soccer team, which won the school’s first national championship last year, will play Berkeley College (N.Y.) on Saturday at 4:45 pm. and Southern Maine CC on Sunday at 2:15 p.m. in Pool A. The winner of Pool A will play the winner of Pool B (Johnson & Wales Charlotte, Berkeley College N.J. and Penn State Beaver) in the Division II final on Monday at 4 p.m.
The women’s team gets a rematch of last year’s final that they lost 2-0 against Cincinnati-Clermont today at 2:30 pm. and plays Southern Maine CC on Sunday at noon. The winner of Pool A plays the winner of Pool B (SUNY ESF, Johnson & Wales Charlotte and Warren Wilson College) in the Division II final on Monday at 1 p.m.
Both Penn State Brandywine teams won the Penn State University Athletic Conference this season for the fourth straight year to advance to the six-team national championship field.
Brianna Banks, a Philadelphia native who scored 40 goals and dished out 4 assists this season, was named the USCAA player of the year. She has 119 goals and 29 assists over her four-year career.
