Philadelphia Union exercise options on eight players, decline two and extend contract offers to four

Joe Bendik, Cory Burke, Warren Creavalle, Anthony Fontana, Olivier Mbaizo, Mark McKenzie, Michee Ngalina and Matt Real are all under contract for 2020, the Philadelphia Union announced on Wednesday.

The eight players had options for 2020 that the club decided to exercise. Options for Marco Fabián, Fabinho and RJ Allen were both declined.

The team also announced on Tuesday that offers have been extended to Ilsinho, Aurelien Collin, Fafa Picault and Jamiro Monteiro.

The team is not seeking a new contract with Haris Medunjanin.

This leaves 20 players on the roster who are under contract for 2020. Seven of those players occupied international roster spots last season, but Jack Elliott and Cory Burke, assuming his visa issues are resolved, may have green cards by the start of the season.
