His academy teammates with the United States U16 team ended up winning the competition, but Jack de Vries put in a strong performance in the final match of the Nike Friendlies for the United States U17 team on Monday night.
The Philadelphia Union homegrown midfield had a goal and an assist, his second of the Nike Friendlies, in a 2-2 draw against his father’s native country, The Netherlands.
Below is video of his 48th minute goal to open the scoring and his assist in the 56th minute to set up Nasuhi Noah Jones to make it 2-0. De Vries set up Jones for the lone goal in the 1-0 win over Turkey to open the competition on Thursday.
Dante Huckaby and Jack McGlynn were part of the U16 squad that won the competition with a 3-2 win over Turkey on Monday, the 2-0 win over the U17s and a 3-3 draw with The Netherlands. Patrick Bohui was supposed to be part of the team but had to withdraw because of injury.
