Brenden Aaronson’s strong showing as a rookie this season and in a training camp with the United States U23s has earned the Medford, N.J. native his first senior national team call-up ahead a pair of Nations League matches next week.
MLSSoccer.com reported the call-up on Tuesday afternoon and the team later confirmed it. The full roster is slated to be released on Wednesday.
The U.S. plays Cuba at Audi Field in Washington D.C. on Friday, October 11 and Canada on Tuesday, October 15 at BMO Field in Toronto.
Aaronson, who turns 19 on October 22, has three goals and a pair of assists in 27 appearances and 20 starts for the Philadelphia Union this season. He’s considered one of the favorites for MLS Rookie of the Year.
