Cory Burke’s goal-scoring form has earned him a call-up, along with Philadelphia Union teammate Andre Blake, to the Reggae Boyz during the upcoming FIFA international window.
Burke last appeared for Jamaica in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Blake earned his 32nd cap in start back in March against Antigua and Barbuda in Kingston. Jamaica has a pair of matches, a friendly against Ecuador at Red Bull Arena in Harrison on Friday and a home game against the Cayman Islands in qualification for the 2019-20 CONCACAF Nations League.
Union midfielder Borek Dockal received a call-up to the Czech Republic national team but will not join the squad after leaving Sunday’s match in the first half with an ankle injury.
Injuries are also keeping Anthony Fontana and Matt Real from reporting to the United States U20 team for a four-team international tournament in Bradenton, Florida.
Mark McKenzie will be representing the Union in the competition, which includes games against Jamaica on September 7th, the United States U19 team on September 9 and Venezuela on September 11. Benfica goalkeeper CJ dos Santos, a Philadelphia native who spent time in the Philadelphia Union Academy prior to signing with the Portuguese club, is also on the U20 roster.
The Union return to action on September 15 at home against fellow playoff contender the Montreal Impact.
