Penn FC offering free tickets to their next two matches for evacuees of Hurricane Florence

They will also collect monetary donations at this Sunday’s match

Penn FC

With Hurricane Florence bearing down on the Carolinas this week, it was unclear if it would have any impact on Penn FC’s scheduled match at home against North Carolina FC on Sunday. Fortunately, NC FC was able to get out ahead of the hurricane by traveling to PA on Thursday and the storm will have cleared out of the area by the time they return on Monday. So the match will be able to proceed as scheduled, but Penn FC has made a few changes to help the people who have been affected by the hurricane.

Penn FC is offering free tickets to Sunday’s match for anyone with a North Carolina or South Carolina ID. If you’re from there but can’t make in on Sunday, the same offer goes for tickets to Wednesday’s match against Louisville City FC.

Florence herself might take advantage of the offer for Wednesday’s game. The remnants of the storm are expected to pass over PA on Tuesday into Wednesday.

In addition to the free tickets, Penn FC will be collecting monetary donations at the stadium that will be given to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund that will specifically assist those affected by Hurricane Florence. The club will donate a portion of the proceeds from their nightly 50-50 raffle to the fund as well.

A win on Sunday is essential for both of these teams to stay in the playoff hunt. Both teams have earned 35 points and sit just 4 points out of a playoff spot. Neither team can afford a setback against another playoff contender this late in the season.

For anyone outside the area who wants to donate themselves, they can do so through the Red Cross website here. Be sure to select “Hurricane Florence” under the “I want to Support” section.
