Union vs. Vancouver Whitecaps: Preview, projected lineups, and how to watch

The Union return to MLS play tonight.

MLS: Philadelphia Union at Vancouver Whitecaps FC Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

The Union will close a four-game homestand in all competitions tonight, when they’ll meet Vancouver Whitecaps FC for the only time this season.

The fourth-place ‘Caps come into this one riding a six-game unbeaten streak. The most decisive result of that run was last week’s 5-2 home win over Orlando City SC. Canadian wunderkind Alphonso Davies had his best game as a pro, scoring the winning goal and assisting on three others.

Though the Union have had success in the U.S. Open Cup once again this year, they’ve faltered in league play as of late. After going four games without a loss in May, the Union came away empty-handed on a road trip to Atlanta, then dropped all three points to Toronto FC at home the following week. That loss to Atlanta United FC continues to plague the Union three weeks later, as Haris Medunjanin is still serving a suspension that resulted from his outburst at referee Sorin Stoica.
