The Philadelphia Union U19 team opened its postseason on Monday with a 3-0 win over Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Oceanside, California.

It took Iverson Brisma less than three minutes to put the U19s on the board when he opened the scoring in the third minute. Tonny Temple doubled the lead in the 18th minute and Shaynder Borgelin added an insurance goal off the bench in the 81st minute.

Borgelin’s goal was his fourth in six games for the U19s this season while Temple connected on his 19th and Brisma’s game-winner was his seventh. Borgelin was one of four U17 players to featured in the match. Midfielder Nick Blacklock and left back A.J. Cousins both started while Cole Turner put in 24 minutes off the bench.

Brady McSwain recorded the clean sheet in his eighth start of the season.

The Portland Timbers defeated the Colorado Rapids 2-0 in the other Group H match on Monday. Only the winner of the group will advance to the Development Academy quarterfinals.

After a day off today, the Union U19s will be back in action against the Timbers on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. local time. The Union U17s open their postseason today at 4 p.m. local time against Orlando City.
