An impending move to Florida has led to a shake-up in the leadership for the Sons of Ben.
President Bill Gusler is stepping down and Matt Gendaszek is stepping up in an interim role through the rest of the season beginning June 1.
Gusler first filled the post in an interim role in August 2016 after serving as Philanthropy Director for Philadelphia Union supporters group. His last match will be tomorrow night’s home game against the Chicago Fire.
“I have made a lot of amazing friends and memories through this organization that I will cherish forever,” Gusler wrote in a letter to members in the Sons of Ben newsletter. “It hasn’t always been easy, there have been plenty of frustrating times over my tenure, but knowing what this club means to me and all of you, makes every headache worth it. I may not have been perfect, or the best President we’ve ever had, but just know that every thing I did, I did for the betterment of this group that we love. And remember, this group is only as successful as the members make it. The board is there to help lead the way, but it means nothing without you, the members showing up and helping out.”
Gendaszek has been serving as the Director of Merchandise, Partnerships & Branding for the group. He works in marketing and business development for a college marketing company.
