Is this the week that a player not named Keegan Rosenberry rises to the top of the player rankings?
There are certainly a number of players who made the case in Saturday night’s 4-1 beat down of Real Salt Lake.
But our poll-takers’ favorite player (it’s not even close) of the season also scored his first goal since August 2016 so the guy from Ronks still has that going for him.
Bořek Dočkal had his best game in Union blue (or white) and his Twitter critics even got a shout out from head coach Jim Curtin after the match. Fafa Picault was a handful again and Marcus Epps rewarded Curtin’s confidence giving him another start with a decent if incomplete performance that included a few moments he may enjoy even less in the film room.
Other highlights for me were Ilsinho, who was fabulous coming off the bench; Alejandro Bedoya, who made a great pass to set up Dočkal; and Andre Blake, who made saves when he needed to early to still give his team a chance to get that all-important first goal. The 19-year-old stop-calling-them-kids center back pairing of Auston Trusty and Mark McKenzie had a pretty uneventful and quiet night for the most part (never a bad thing) while Ray Gaddis was again more active in the offensive third than we’ve grown accustomed to, taking a shot way off target and earning a corner kick near the end line.
What did you think of the individual performances? Who stood out to you?
