For $15, fans will be able to get a round trip bus ticket on a new shuttle from four stops in Philadelphia to Talen Energy Stadium beginning April 28, the Philadelphia Union announced on Thursday.
“We’re excited to debut this program, a great new option for our fans based in Philadelphia,” Tim McDermott, Union Chief Business Officer, stated in a news release. “We think the U-Ride Program will be very successful, offering round trip transportation from four great bars and restaurants in the downtown area, allowing fans to enjoy a meal before the match while getting to the stadium and back quickly, efficiently and safely.”
The four pick-up locations include:
Baby Blues BBQ (3402 Sansom St, Philadelphia PA 19104)
Brauhaus Schmitz (718 South St, Philadelphia PA 19147)
Smith’s Restaurant & Bar (39 S 19th St, Philadelphia PA 19103)
XFINITY Live! (1100 Pattison Ave, Philadelphia PA 19148)
The program will begin for the D.C. United game on Saturday, April 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Buses will depart two hours before kickoff. They depart for the return trip 20 minutes after the final whistle.
The Union will continue to operate a free shuttle service from the Chester Transporation Center.
Though new to the Union, other teams in MLS are already providing similar services. They include one operated by Colorado Rapids supporter group Centennial 38, which provides transportation to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park for $10 round trip (with free beer), the Chicago Fire’s Pub to Pitch shuttle program and the Galaxy Express, which the LA Galaxy provides through a partnership with Long Beach Transit.
Tickets for the U-Ride Program will be available on PhiladelphiaUnion.com.
