Selmir Miscic and Patrick Bohui are joining back up with the United States U16 Boys National Team to try and help the U.S. defend their title from a year ago at a tournament in Italy that runs through May 2.
The U15 attacking duo are among 20 players called in by head coach Shaun Tsakiris for the Torneo delle Nazioni in Gradisca d’Isonzo, Italy.
The United States are in Group A for the competition, where they will play Italy on April 24, Libya on April 26 and Croatia on April 27.
“This will be a great test for our players,” Tsakiris said in a news release. “What I like about this tournament is that the teams we are facing are not only very good opponents, but they are also very different opponents, in their style, who they are and how they play. I’m excited to see how our players respond to different types of international talent.”
The rest of the tournament field includes Czech Republic, England, Japan and United Arab Emirates in Group B; Mexico, Romania, Russia and Slovenia in Group C; and Austria, Costa Rica, Norway and Portugal in Group D.
The U.S. won the 14th edition of the tournament last year. Midfielder Julian Anderson was the lone Philadelphia Union representative on that squad.
Miscic and Bohui have scored a combined 36 times in league play this season. Miscic leads the team with 23 goals.
